As Joshua and I sit at a coffee shop in Lenoir City and get ready for our third weekend of deputation services, we can't help but sit and discuss just how faithful the Lord is and how generous you are as a body of Christ!
When we were originally told that our total monies raised would need to be around $35,000 we were a little anxious, especially in these unprecedented times we are currently in. Trying to navigate unchartered waters of Corona Virus, churches closing, people without jobs, etc. We knew that even being able to physically go church to church could pose an obstacle. As we began to receive invitations to travel to your churches many of the same questions were posed... "What will the funds raised be used for?" "Aren't you employeed by the Church? Why do you need more support?" I want to list below a few things that your contributions will be contributing to!
Set Up Costs
Furniture and Appliances
Office Equipment
Car/Transportation
Medical Reimbursement Account
Ongoing Needs
Home Assignment Travel (Car Rental/Plane Tickets/etc)
Home Assignment Allowance (small amount of supplemental income if needed while in the USA on home assignments)
Tax Submissions
Health Insurance
Miscellaneous Needs
Promotional Items (prayer cards/website/magnets/etc)
Schooling (for Jude and Kate)
Language Funds
Conference Costs
Retirement account
As we finished services this past Sunday we began to calculate just how much YOU all have already given to support our ministry needs while we are Serving in Sofia.
So far (in only 2 weeks), you all have given OVER $8,000 toward our ministry!! We are continually amazed at just how generous you all are! As we continue on our tour of East Tennessee we will continue to update our Serving In Sofia Giving tracker. We are so thankful for your willingness to support us not only financially but also prayerfully!
As I read this passage I prayed that the Lord would help us to make wise decisions and create a strong foundation to build our ministry upon in Sofia, Bulgaria.
"For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has enough to complete it?Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’" (Luke 14:28-30 NRSV)
As we prepare to leave everything we are familiar with here in Tennessee for a new life in Bulgaria, we want to make sure that we are creating a strong foundation and we are able to do whatever ministry to Lord calls us to while in Sofia without finances being an obstacle!
